Texas Health Steps Up for Collin County with New Community Resource Center

New Texas Health Community Resource Center in Allen Strengthens Healthcare Access in Collin County

Healthcare shouldn't be a privilege for the few. In one of the fastest-growing counties in Texas, it must be accessible, affordable, and rooted in compassion. That's why we're proud to spotlight a bold new initiative happening right here in our backyard.

This May, Texas Health Resources opened the doors to the Texas Health Community Resource Center, located at Medical Office Building 2 on the campus of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen. This isn't just another clinic—it's a game changer for underserved residents across the Allen-Fairview region.

The Resource Center is designed to support adults in Collin County living with unmanaged chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure. But it goes beyond prescriptions and check-ups. This is healthcare that treats the whole person.

What Makes It Different?

  • On-Site Medical Services: Bloodwork, nutritional counseling, and chronic disease education—all under one roof.

  • Holistic Support: Community health workers will connect residents to local partners for rent assistance, utility help, and transportation resources.

  • Food as Medicine: The on-site "Good For You Healthy Hub" pantry offers fresh produce, recipes, and tools for long-term health improvement.

According to Amanda Thrash, FACHE, president of Texas Health Allen, “The services and support provided at the Community Resource Center aim to reach communities earlier so we can prevent poor health outcomes and help residents live healthier, happier lives.”

And she's right. Nearly 10% of Collin County residents still lack healthcare coverage. In a region known for innovation and affluence, that gap is unacceptable.

By combining healthcare services with wraparound social support, Texas Health is standing in that gap and serving as a model for what modern, mission-driven care should look like.

Why It Matters for Fairview and Allen

This initiative directly addresses some of the biggest challenges identified in Texas Health's community health needs assessment: affordable care, transportation, and nutrition insecurity. These are not abstract issues; they affect real people and families in our region daily.

Texas Health is treating more than symptoms by investing in infrastructure like this. They're rebuilding access to opportunity and dignity for thousands of Collin County residents.
